Quadrado and Igreja de São João Batista
A grass square of painted houses closed at its seaward end by a whitewashed church, laid out on the Jesuit village plan IPHAN describes for Trancoso. The lawn is public and busy from late afternoon, when the restaurants open onto it.
- Best time
- The hour before sunset, when the light comes down the lawn from behind the houses
- Permit
- Free to photograph from the public square; the square lies inside IPHAN's protected perimeter of Porto Seguro, and any change to it answers to IPHAN
