Couple photography

The session is built around one location, or two within a short walk, so the 30 minutes go on photographs rather than on ride-hailing. In Brazil that might be the Arpoador rock between Ipanema and Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro, the cobbled lanes of the historic centre of Paraty, the colourful houses of the Pelourinho in Salvador, or the Quadrado in Trancoso at dusk. The photographer gives direction throughout, but most of the 20 edited photos come from walking, talking and reacting rather than from held poses, because almost nobody looks natural when told to stand still.

Light decides more than location. Brazil has had no daylight saving time since 2019, so the soft windows are fixed by the season alone: on the Rio coast the sun sets at about 6:40 pm in December and about 5:15 pm in June, and on the equatorial coast of Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte sunset falls between about 5:10 pm and 5:50 pm all year. Midday sun on white sand flattens faces and makes eyes squint, so a midday booking is planned around the shade of trees, colonnades or a pousada veranda.

Choose this session when the pictures do not have a job to do. If you are engaged and need images for invitations, the engagement session delivers crops built for print and screens. If you have just married, the honeymoon session is planned around the pousada and the trip. If one of you is about to ask the question, the proposal service hides the photographer until the yes. A couple session is the plain version of all of them, and the gallery is delivered within 7 days.
