Drone photo & video

Drone photo and video in Brazil is an hour on location with an insured drone pilot, priced from $300 for 25 edited aerial photos and a 1-minute aerial film delivered within 7 days. It is the booking for anything that reads best from above: a couple on the curve of a beach in Fernando de Noronha, the dunes and lagoons of the Lençóis Maranhenses, the colonial roofs of Paraty, a boat off Ilha Grande. The hour on location is not an hour in the air — batteries, wind and the airspace decide how much of it the drone actually flies.

About this session

Flying a drone in Brazil under the 2026 rules

Three federal bodies govern every flight, and two of them changed their rules in 2026. The Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC) replaced RBAC-E nº 94 with RBAC nº 100 on 16 June 2026: a drone of 250 g or more must be registered in ANAC’s SISANT, every operation the regulation covers must carry third-party damage insurance, and in the open category a drone stays within sight, below 120 m and at least 30 m horizontally from anyone who is neither part of the shoot nor has expressly agreed to it. From 2027 every remote pilot must also have passed ANAC’s theory exam, a requirement waived until 31 December 2026. The Departamento de Controle do Espaço Aéreo (DECEA) brought in a new ICA 100-40 on 1 July 2026, under which every drone — even one under 250 g — needs authorisation in its SARPAS system before take-off. The Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) adds the third layer: a drone’s radio may not be used in Brazil until it is homologated.

Location then narrows what is possible. Airports and helipads sit inside DECEA flight restriction zones, where a flight needs a Termo de Coordenação and at least 4 calendar days’ notice instead of the 30 minutes an open-category request needs. Federal parks run by the Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio) add their own layer: the Parque Nacional da Tijuca protocol requires the park’s authorisation for any professional drone flight and keeps recreational drones off Corcovado, while at Iguaçu Falls the SARPAS authorisation goes to the park for an analysis of up to 7 days. ICA 100-40 also forbids flying in rain, strong wind or fog, so the pilot can ground the drone on a day that looks fine from the beach.

This booking is aerial only. For ground photographs of the same day, add a photo session; for a wedding, drone wedding coverage is planned around a ceremony and guests; for a house, pousada or development, drone real estate footage is built for listings. Whether a session grounded by wind moves to another date is agreed in writing before booking, and if lightning or a closed site makes the location unusable, the terms move it at no charge.

Questions about drone photo & video

Can I bring my own drone to Brazil and fly it?

A drone of 250 g or more flown in Brazil must be registered in the SISANT system of the Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC), which accepts a passport number, and its radio must be homologated by the Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL), unit by unit, through a Declaração de Conformidade. Every flight, whatever the weight, also needs authorisation in SARPAS, the system of the Departamento de Controle do Espaço Aéreo (DECEA).

Where can a drone not fly in Brazil?

Under DECEA’s ICA 100-40, in force since 1 July 2026, aerodromes and helipads are ringed by flight restriction zones, and a drone flight crossing one needs a Termo de Coordenação and at least 4 calendar days’ notice in SARPAS. Federal parks add their own rules: the Parque Nacional da Tijuca protocol bars recreational drones at Corcovado and requires the park’s authorisation for any professional flight.

Can a drone film Iguaçu Falls?

Drone filming in the Parque Nacional do Iguaçu needs a DECEA authorisation issued through SARPAS, which is then sent to the park, run by the Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio), for its own analysis of up to 7 days. Name the falls when you book drone photo and video in Foz do Iguaçu, so both requests are filed well before the date.

What happens if it is too windy or wet for the drone to fly?

DECEA’s ICA 100-40 forbids drone flights in rain, strong wind or fog, and the pilot makes that call on the day even when the sky looks fine from the ground. Whether a grounded drone photo and video session moves to a new date or changes shape is agreed in writing before booking; if lightning or a closed site makes the location unusable, the terms move it at no charge.

Can a drone film us on a busy beach in Brazil?

ANAC’s RBAC nº 100 keeps a drone at least 30 m horizontally from anyone who is neither part of the shoot nor has expressly agreed to it. On a full beach in Rio or Florianópolis that means filming from the water side, from height, or at an empty hour, which is why drone photo and video sessions on the coast are usually planned for sunrise.
