Family photography
Family photography in Brazil is a 30-minute portrait session for a family group, priced from $180, planned around the people who tire first: toddlers, and grandparents who would rather not walk far on soft sand. The 20 edited photos cover the whole group, each household within it, the children on their own, and the combinations families ask for once everyone is finally together, such as the grandparents with every grandchild, the frame that is hardest to get at any other time of year.

Families book it during a reunion, a milestone birthday or a holiday that brings three generations to one place: a beach house in Florianópolis, a resort near Porto de Galinhas or Maceió, a pousada in Paraty, or a hotel in Gramado in the southern winter, when coats and scarves replace swimwear. The order of the 30 minutes is fixed in advance because energy is the scarce resource. The full group comes first, while shirts are clean and children are curious, then the households, then small portraits, then free play at the water’s edge, which is where the most natural pictures of children tend to happen.
Light decides the hour. Close to the tropics the sun is high and harsh from late morning to mid-afternoon, so beach sessions go in the first hour after sunrise or the last hour before sunset, and a session that must happen at midday moves into the shade of a garden or a veranda. Some places add a timetable of their own: the natural pools of Porto de Galinhas show only around low tide, so a session that includes them is booked against the Brazilian Navy’s tide table rather than the clock, with a beach fallback if the sea is rough.
The gallery stays private. Brazil’s Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente protects the image of every child, and no family photograph showing a child is published anywhere without written permission from a parent. The gallery link goes to the family alone, and each branch of the family can download its own copies. For an expecting parent, the maternity session is shorter on walking and longer on shade; for a fifteenth birthday party, the debutante coverage is the page to read.
Questions about family photography
What time of day suits a family photo session on a beach in Brazil?
A family photo session on a Brazilian beach works best in the first hour after sunrise or the last hour before sunset: the tropical sun is high and hard from late morning to mid-afternoon, children squint, and the sand gets hot underfoot. A 30-minute family session at midday is moved into shade, a garden or a pousada veranda.
Can a family session at Porto de Galinhas include the natural pools?
The natural pools of Porto de Galinhas appear only around low tide, so a family session that includes them is booked against the tide table published by the Brazilian Navy’s hydrographic service rather than by the clock. Family photography at the pools also depends on the local raft operators and the sea that day, and a beach fallback is always planned.
Do you publish photos of our children online?
Family photographs of children are never published on the website or social media without written permission from a parent. Brazil’s Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente (Lei 8.069/1990) protects the image of every child, and the family gallery stays private, shared only through the link sent to the parents after the session.
How many people can a 30-minute family session cover?
A 30-minute family photography session in Brazil comfortably covers a group of up to about a dozen people across two or three households: the full group first, then each household, then the children alone. Larger reunions should ask for a longer booking, because each extra household adds a few minutes of arranging.
