Event videography

Event videography in Brazil is five hours of filming at a corporate or private event, edited into a highlight film of 3 to 5 minutes and priced from $1,100, with the film delivered within 3 weeks. It covers conventions and launches in São Paulo, incentive trips to Rio de Janeiro, Búzios or Fernando de Noronha, galas, milestone birthdays and festa de 15 anos parties. The price is a starting quote: extra hours, a second camera or full-length recordings of talks change it, and the quote is agreed in writing before any deposit is paid.

Filming an event in Brazil for a highlight film

A highlight film is not a recording of the whole event. In 3 to 5 minutes the speeches appear as short excerpts between the arrivals, the room, the stage, the guests and the moments people will want to see again. If a keynote, a panel or every toast must be kept in full, that is a separate edit, quoted before booking, because each full-length recording adds hours of syncing and sound work. Raw footage is not included unless it is agreed in writing before booking.

Sound is where an event film is won or lost. The videographer asks the venue’s audio supplier for a feed from the mixing desk, which carries every stage microphone cleanly; at a convention centre in São Paulo or a hotel ballroom in Rio that is arranged with the AV company the venue already uses. Where no feed is allowed, a separate recorder goes beside the speakers. Talk to the audio supplier a week or more before the event, because a feed improvised on the night rarely works.

Part of an event outdoors brings its own rules. In Rio de Janeiro, Decreto nº 49.283/2021 exempts filming inside private premises licensed for the activity, but an activity in a public space that gathers people beyond the crew is treated as an event, which needs the city’s event authorisation rather than a filming permit — the organiser’s to obtain. Event videography is also a different booking from corporate event photography, which delivers edited photographs, and many events book both; for short vertical clips for the event’s own accounts, social media content is the closer fit.

Questions about event videography

What events does event videography cover in Brazil?

Event videography covers incentive trips, conventions, product launches, galas, milestone birthdays and festa de 15 anos parties in Brazil: 5 hours of filming edited into a highlight film of 3 to 5 minutes. A wedding is booked as wedding videography instead, because its day runs 8 hours and its film is built around a ceremony and vows.

Does event videography include every speech in full?

Event videography delivers a highlight film of 3 to 5 minutes in which speeches appear as short excerpts. A keynote, a panel or every toast kept at full length is a separate edit, quoted before booking and agreed in writing, because each full recording adds hours of syncing and sound work after the event.

How is clean sound recorded for event videography?

Clean sound is the hardest part of event videography, so the videographer asks the venue’s audio supplier for a feed from the mixing desk, which carries every stage microphone. Where no feed is allowed, a separate recorder goes beside the speakers; contact the audio supplier of your venue in São Paulo, Rio or wherever the event is held a week or more before the date.

Why is event videography quoted rather than fixed?

Event videography in Brazil starts from 5 hours with one camera, and the quote then moves with what changes the work: extra hours, a second camera for the stage and the room, full-length talk recordings, a same-night edit for the closing dinner, or travel to a venue far from the videographer’s base. The quote is agreed in writing before any deposit is paid.
